HealthSouth Concord Celebrates National Rehabilitation Week with Seated Therapeutic Yoga Seminar

HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital in Concord will join rehabilitation providers across the nation Sept. 18-24, 2016, in celebration of National Rehabilitation Week with the theme “The Power of Rehabilitation.” Community members are invited to learn more about the power of yoga, and how it can be helpful for over 70 chronic physical and mental health conditions, by visiting the hospital located at 254 Pleasant Street for a Seated Therapeutic Yoga seminar presented by the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 1:30 – 3 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.
This seminar will share seated yoga techniques to help the mind and body and is at no-cost to participants, offering easy-to-do, effective movements that can also be practiced at home. Seated therapeutic yoga is designed for:
- People who have or anticipate having mobility concerns.
- Those who want to maintain their independence.
- People who may be living with one of more chronic health conditions.
- People who are interested in improving their health and well-being.

National Rehabilitation Awareness Week was established in 1976 to create awareness of people with disabilities and promote the benefits of rehabilitation. In 1990, a presidential proclamation designated the third week of September as National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, which has grown to include more than 7,000 organizations.
